We are honored to partner with the Social Transformation Studies Department's Engaged Stories Lab to support the award-winning documentary, "The Table We Share." Through the lens of K-State students and faculty, this powerful film tells the moving story of Emmaus House in Garden City, a place that offers food, shelter, and dignity to those in need. This work is part of the ongoing Hungry Heartland Project, a collaborative effort that demonstrates how storytelling can humanize the reality of food insecurity in rural Kansas. The Chapman Center proudly supported this impactful project by providing funding through our Interdisciplinary Research Grant in both 2022 and 2024. The IRG's purpose is to encourage faculty to work with scholars outside their specializations to generate insights into the dynamics of rural life, and to provide valuable research experience to promising undergraduates. Our grant helped ensure this important research and storytelling could continue and reach a broader audience.
